Pnm-14: Association of The Severity of Nausea on Quality of Life of Pregnant Women with Nausea

s:1459:"Background: During their first trimester, 50-90% of women experience nausea and vomiting of pregnancy. Nausea and vomiting of pregnancy decrease the ability of functioning, that the effect of this limitation is associated with severity of the symptoms. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of the severity of nausea on the quality of life. Materials and Methods: In this analytical study, 80 pregnant women with nausea during their first 12 weeks of pregnancy who came to clinic prenatalogy of Rouhani Hospital of Babol University of Medical Science were recruited by random sampling. Women were asked to complete the visual analogue scale (VAS) questionnaire to report their intensity of nausea within the last 24 hours. Those women allocated to mild and moderate group (0-7 grades) and sever group (grade over 7).Also we used the "health related quality of life for nausea and vomiting of pregnancy" questionnaire that was filled out by those pregnant women. This questionnaire (NVPQOL) includes four domains (Physical symptoms and aggravating factors, Fatigue, Emotions and limitations). Then Data were analyzed by using T test and chi-square test. Results: Pregnant women in sever group, reported a lower quality of life as compared to the mild and moderate group (p<0/05). Conclusion: These finding show that the severity of nausea was associated with lower quality of life and nausea have a negative impact on health-related QOL. ";
